What kind of sponge is best to use, a real sea sponge or just a kitchen type of sponge?

I like to use a wash towel, small hand ones. Sponges work ok if they are new but the paint once it dries on it will destroy the sponge and it cant be used again, if you try to use it it'll crumble into your paint, and leave you with lumps, no fun, so I dont like to use them, I know some people like the effect they give though, so just experiment.

I've used a large bath sponge to make a crater effect on my moons. Kitchen sponges are only semi-effective if they remain damp or else they are hard as bricks after a few uses (in which case I use them to move paint around to make gasious cloud effects on my planets).
