We all learn from mistakes, after many many that some of us have made I thought i'd start a thread here for people to list things they've learned not to do.
heres a few that may be helpful.
1. keep your birds small, I have found that when my birds look too big they dont look right I find they look best small and sharp.
2. go light on those center gleems, thats when your adding like a center light to like a sun or a star, if you hit it too hard(too much paint) you'll get a puddle look at that place.
3. that brings up a third thing, try to keep the paintings smooth requires careful layering of paint and clear, I think it looks best I suggest a nice even coat of clear at the end to help even out the look, but try to pay attention as you go along to avoid uneven layer buildup, and you'll be much more pleased with the final results.

Hope people add to this thread, learning from peoples experiences especially from their mistakes can save you a lot headaches along the way.

Yeah, annoying thing is it's difficult to cover up a mistake. The one I do mostly is drips of white that fall from the can when I'm making stars. Another one I did earlier, I didn't clean the straight edge, and the paint came off the straight edge and into the highlight i was making, wasn't impressed.
