I have found that when you are scratching in highlights for rocky terrain that one should sort of "chop" the painting. It will leave some areas of deeper highlights and add more depth to the painting. Also, vary the pressure on the knife and the angle of the knife to the painting. This will create a better texture.

when ever i try to make like buildings i always end up with a little puddle of paint where i stop. How can i fix that?
