being a professional picture framer by trade, i was looking at the foam backing boards for picture frames, they have an extremely smooth coating on them, there bright white, has anybody tried these?, you can buy these backing boards for about $3.50ea for a 32x40in size, and you could cut them into 4 giving you a size of 16x20in @ 0.88c each which is extremely cheap and there acid free for those artist purists.
what do you think?

sounds like it might work to me, give it a try and share the results with us. I have tried foam core boards in the past and havent had good results. the paint doesnt lay well on the surface and the paintings can warp.
