I've had a friend commission me for a couple custom paintings and she wants them to have a river. I've tried several different techniques but i cant seem to get it right. I've looked on youtube and cant find any videos on rivers or any pictures for that matter. Any help would be appreciated.

My advice is to remember they get more narrow as they go back, be sure it winds, and also be sure it is hidden when it should be (if it goes behind a hill or whatever the case is).

if you have any outcropping of land that spans a part of the river be sure to show the reflection of the land in the water for realistic qualities.
