hey i bought some "royal" brand poster board... i don't think it has a 'shiny' side... it seemed to kind of soak up the paint and dull out the colors... do i need shiny sided?

Yes, you have to have a glossy side, other wise it'll just soak up the paint.

The brand name that many people use is "Pacon". You can usually find 22"x28" sheets of it at Walgreens for around 89 cents. You will definitely notice a glossy side and a matte side.

Actually I think it's "Peacock"... at least that's the brand I found at Walgreens, as well as Hobby Lobby. It's sold in 22"x28" in 2 packs as well as 11"x14" in packs of 5. Also, the Dollar Tree sells huge sheets for 2 for $1 that have a glossy side.

Hi Lisa :) I double checked my WalGreens when I went to buy more paper today. The brand on the paper at my store is definitely "Pacon". WalGreens probably uses different suppliers in different parts of the country :) I'm in Washington, near Seattle.

I have painted on album covers, cd cases, cereal boxes, garage sale signs,[aluminum even plastic]. get creative, .. any glossy surface cardboard, wood, formica, plastic... I love to paint boxes. any box . shoes, cereal, granola, cigar, etc,. all sides too. a little hard but well worth the look on peoples faces when you are done. and they always are useful or just tape em up first then hang em from the ceiling.

....................
if the surface is not glossy. paint it with clear or white or black. even pink or yellow. let it ALMOST dry then do your painting.

Thanks Brandon
