Hi, my names Kieran and I am delighted to become a part of this community. I was blown away by some of the outstanding artworks on the sight and, after browsing for some hours, decided to join. One thing that certainly impressed me is the ability of several of the artist to create a realistic scene in the medium aswell, i.e not a space painting. however, my interest does surround all the space paintings. Basically i have three questions, but will probably have more!

1.) Is this website alright in terms of the paints they sell? ( even though they don't sell white!) heres the link;

http://www.monstercolors.com/store_paints.php

2.) Where in England can i purchase glossy paper or posterboard, I have searched the net for hours to find a supplier with little success!

3.) Is there anything besides paint, paper and an imagination i need to get strated?

Many thanks for your time, I look forward to your responses

Kieran
EDIT - I am quite sure i have put this in the wrong section, so could somone with the capability perhaps relocate it to the correct area??

hey kieran. to answer your questions, monstercolors looks awesome and i hadnt known about it before, but i think i might buy from there now! lol.

im not sure about where in england since i live in florida (although i used to live in england) but all you really need is to go to a walmart (do they have those in england?) or any supermarket or walgreens, or pretty much any store, go to the arts and crafts section, and there should be poster board around 2 by 3 feet ish. you iwll have to cut it, but its cheap and easy so youl get used to it.

really, the way i started was just by watching a few videos online (on this site actually) and then after a while you get the hang of things.

a tip though: you defenitly need to think/plan out your painting before you paint it. like here im gna put htis planet, and there is that one... etc.

oh, yeah, and this is the place where ppl upload their videos of them painting, so i think the place you were looking for is the general discussion board

Thanks for the help! If you do order the monstercolours let me know how they work out! Also if anyone else uses them here please let me know. The only thing that slightly puts me off is that they are a matt finish and i thought you needed gloss paints. Can someone who uses rust-oleum painters touch list all the colours they own, that would be greatly appreciated!

hey keiran I use monstercolours, and although they are matt finish they work well on and gloss surface.
I Also live In the UK and have'nt been able to find poster board BUT i found an alternative - foam board check it out
and they do sell white....
You might need a few lids... round ones and maybe a pallet knife for highlights. I got a pallet knife the other day and I love it!

Good luck with the painting let me know how it goes

Joe
