I am looking for a large project and am considering the following idea: Purchasing a door blank. You know, an unfinished, unhung door with no hardware. Hollow core to keep it inexpensive. Something in a very common size for a bedroom. Perhaps 30" wide. If I can find one preprimed great, but if not maybe I will prime it with gesso or the like. Then paint a very bright and busy spacescape that would be attractive to a young person, say 10-12 to early teens. And post it to our local craigslist online classified ads as a very unique and one of a kind gift for a son or daughter who is going thru the "I wanna be an astronaut" phase. The quality door that was removed to hang this one can come back out of storage and go back on when the space phase has ran its course or the house is being sold. I'm thinking of asking in the neighborhood of $200-$250 with the cost of materials and time involved. I figure if I paint one or two as examples, I will have to do customs after that to make sure I buy door blanks that will fit a customer's application.
Hmmm.... any thoughts are appreciated. ---------- 99GT (Marty) Visit my web page http://www.myspacepaintings.com/Ninety9GT

sounds great : ) im sure there are plenty of kids who would love this, sounds like a fair price as well And I would maybe do one example and a few that you could recreate on largish board, that way you wouldnt have to do a whole door every time. Its your choice. Its actually pretty strange because I was thinking of doing a very similar thing for kids, The glossy wooden storage boxes, that are oblongs, It would be great for painting on ! You've inspired me to go for it :L Have you sold any of your normal pictures yet? I think they would go very fast if you did a live show, you got really great painting

You know what 99, I keep meaning to get myself a huge 4by8 sheet of that board I use, and mount it as it is straight on the wall with a ton of sticky back velcro! Hell I love doing BIIIIIIG stuff! It's very tempting !lol!
