Well it seems all have left this place, but if any stragglers remain some help would be awesome. I have defeated all my previous struggles, but now I would like to paint waves big and small. It so far has proven to be my most fearsome opponent. Thanks in advance

If it's any help even Acrylic Painters struggle with waves & there is a lot more control with that medium IMO. There are two street performer video's I found that helped me with the wave thing and yes, it can be difficult to capture. You may want to try Acrylic Painting techniques for waves and understand the concepts of how a wave is formed, the aspects of what it does when it breaks, etc this helped me a lot hope this helps some..

I think one of these is Brandon's anyhow hope this helps as for the Acrylic technique, agreed not as fun but any other medium may have things that can be transferred over to this form of painting, whether it be color wheel theory, balancing pictures, what is pleasing to the eye vs what is not, etc.. so much out there don't narrow yourself to the status quo, think outside the box, this form of painting is excellent for this concept.. Good Luck it will happen

I'm still here... Waves prove to be very difficult. I've been letting the paint dry a little, then adding a bit of clear. I get a better result when the paint is a bit tacky. I use my gloved hand to smear the paint. Once that is done use a flat pallat knife with white paint to add the overspray you want to do mostly all upstrokes and a little bit of the paint skipping spots in the line is a good thing. Then take a fan brush with white on the top to bring the crest of the wave down.

I hope that makes sense... im on the phone at work, right now too. (on hold)
