sweet work Drose.. love all these .. ever make any videos, I want to see your work.. totally awesome use of colors on the last. love the peeks on that first one coming down the mountain side there.

Not much of a nature painter myself. have made a few for my wife n friends. will have to work on displaying some of them here .. as soon as I finish them.. someone always wants it. I myself dont like them.

hey I cant lie . yours are out there good. way better than mine. that second one kills it . an the third .. guess cause it has that scifi look still in it, I like way more.

but that first one is still my fave.

thanks for the comments- for the foreground rocks, where you want to see as much detail as possible and have realistic textures, try making peaks and edges by smearing the paint with your finger, then highlight an edge with the pallet knife taking care the paint is not too wet- use as little clear (or none) as possible. sometimes I will highlight then smear it over and re highlight it if I don't like the look of it the first time. doing several redos of an area also gives it a different look and mkes things more varied and natural.
The first paintings rocks were the result of redoing the area several times by highlighting then smudging over and re doing
rocks are like little mountains- same principles are involved in creating them but instead of using magazine paper to smear the paint I use my finger as the area is smaller I guess you could use paper also, I just tend to like to use my finger alot - hope this makes sense

drose signatures... rocks, mountains, and tree trunks... and I mean that as a compliment. I can tell when they are yours without seeing the name. Very nice work. I like the idea you have been sharing about creating textures with your fingers, then highlighting with a palette knife. I can't believe I have never done that. I have struggled with a folded piece of paper many times, trying to get the angle or pressure I want when makinga mountain or rocks... can't believe I have never just gotten my hands into it. If mother nature gives me a break anytime soon, I will be giving this a try. Good stuff!! Keep them coming.
