I am still playing with the matte side of the posterboard. I thought maybe I should post something besides lots of trees, lest I be stereotyped as only a nature painter, lol. So here is my second tall ship attempt. Inspired by the original USS Colorado, three mast, steam screw. In the painting she is showing her age, but "Aye, she's still seaworthy." Thanks for looking.
Rustoleum spray paint, a pallet knife, a straight edge, a nail, and some torn bits of posterboard.

Love your ships. My father and I used to build models of them when I was little. Brings back a lot of great memories. You really have some wonderful work!!

Wow Marty I remember the first time you done your first sailboat way back in August and that was awesome,(hope you don't mind me posting a pic of it)but this tops any sailboat I have seen done with spraycans. This is off the charts and you have set the bar very high for all of us! Amazing piece, great stuff!

The thing you have to be most aware of, is that this is painted on the "matte" side of the posterboard, so my base coats of orange and brown soaked into the paper. This allowed me to scrape the hull, masts, sails, etc, thru the top layers of paint without any white highlights. The rigging was all done with a straight edge and a nail, the white highlights on the ship and the water were applied with a torn piece of posterboard. Hope that helps.
