Here's my contribtution to Heath Ledger - Joker, from the new Batman Movie. This took me over 6 hours to do, but was well worth it. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think!

Hi Ben I'm afraid I cannot elaborate much on your question. I guess it just stands for haha since he is the Joker and is always laughing throughout his role in the movies. That's about it!

Hi Shikey, the painting is a regular 11"x 14". As regards to money, well haven't sold any yet, but there again I haven't had any exposure either. Not in it for the money though, as my fulltime job is very demanding. But I'm hoping to set up an exhibtion in the coming months with two of my friends who paint with different media, one uses acrylics and the other one charcoal, I use spray, so it should be interesting to have a mixed media exhibit and hopefully will get some feedback then!

Can I maybe suggest a few things without seeming rude???

I would make one of batman too, these would be an incredible set, and I think if you could massproduce these, but at a quicker pace (you said it took 6 hours the first one) I have never done a stencil so don't know much about time when doing them, and sell them slightly cheaper, I think you could make a killing on them. This one looks very very good, could be used on a book cover of the movie.

Wonderful, very nicely done, like the red lines/splotches across it, it adds to the painting.
May I ask what exactly took 6 hours to do? The painting itself or the stencil or what?
Can you elaborate on the various stages you went through to make it? Like what did you lay down first, what was the second thing you did, the stencil you used, etc? If you want to share that would be nice to know.

idea: Maybe you coulda written with finger dipped in red the tag line from the movie: "Why so serious?" but maybe the paint would dry too fast to do such a thing. I need to do a test to see if it works myself.

I hope this helps, thanks for the compliments guys. It's the painting that took long. The stencil is very basic. The eyes, the mouth, the nose, the HA and the face outline. The rest is just shading. The stencil is cut out of normal posterboard. I started by sparaying the stencil with the various colours. So at first it doesn't look like much, just brown eyes, black thin nose and red lips, that's it. It is important not to spray any white but use the white of the posterboard. After that is dry you start filling in the details with whaever tools suit you best, like a dry cloth, the tip of a pen for the white dots, whatever you can use to get the desired effect. It took me quite long because when I was spraying paint on to a lid to get colours that don't come in spraycans and to use them for shading, it kept drying on me very fast to a point where it was frustrating and this took a lot of time, just to do a small part of shading. I think the paint I use, apart from being very expensive in not the same as the americam paint, but that's all I have available here. I have seen me using the same colours as in videos but the effect is totally different. To give you an idea of what I painted, I put the original next to it. This will also be my contest entry.
